Harvard University Press publie une nouvelle version de Endymion Wilkinson, Chinese History: A New Manual, 2012, 1100 p. ouvrage incontournable pour ceux qui s’intéressent à l’histoire de la Chine. La version précédente de l’ouvrage est disponible sur Google Books.
La première version fut publiée en 1973 (The History of Imperial China. A research guide), une autre en 1998, Chinese history. A manual.
Ce nouveau volume, remaniée, enrichie se divise en 14 parties et en 77 chapitres. Il compte 1148 pages.
- Books 1–9 cover Language; People; Geography and the Environment; Governing and Educating; Ideas and Beliefs, Literature, and the Fine Arts; Agriculture, Food, and Drink; Technology and Science; Trade; and Historiography.
- Books 10–13 present primary and secondary sources chronologically by period.
- Book 14 is on historical bibliography. Electronic resources are covered throughout.
